In line with its commitment to advancing science- and technology-driven agriculture, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Central Luzon, through the SARAI CENTRO Central Luzon Team, conducted a courtesy visit to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Miguel de Mayumo, Bulacan on December 3, 2025. The activity forms part of the DOST Smart and Innovative Agriculture (SINAG) Program, which aims to promote climate-resilient, data-driven, and technology-enabled agricultural development across the regions.
The DOST delegation was warmly received by Municipal Mayor Hon. John “Bong” A. Alvarez, together with Mr. Glenn Mark V. Ortiz, Municipal Agriculturist I. The meeting provided a venue to explore strategic collaboration opportunities aligned with the goals of DOST SINAG, particularly in advancing smart and climate-resilient agriculture in the municipality.
Discussions centered on harnessing science, technology, and data-driven solutions to enhance agricultural productivity and improve decision-making support for local farmers. Both parties highlighted the importance of adopting innovative technologies and strengthening local capacities to address challenges posed by climate change and evolving agricultural demands.
A key outcome of the meeting was the mutual agreement to formalize the partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The collaboration will focus on technology adoption, capacity building, and data-driven agricultural support systems designed to empower farmers and improve farm-level outcomes.
This developing partnership reflects a shared vision of building a resilient and sustainable agricultural sector in Central Luzon, with San Miguel de Mayumo positioned as a local convergence area for DOST Smart and Innovative Agriculture initiatives, underscoring DOST’s commitment to bringing science, technology, and innovation closer to farming communities.
